Yokosuka Armed Forces Meet
Good evening families,
I hope you are all as excited for this meet as I am, can you believe we have 16 swimmers joining us? Please take a moment to read this email in its entirety.
What to expect?
Saturday:
Arrive at Purdy Pool at 1:30 PM
Warm-ups begin at 2 PM
Meet starts at 3 PM
From experience, the session should conclude around 6 PM.
Sunday:
Arrive at Purdy Pool at 7 AM
Warm-ups begin at 7:30 AM
Meet starts at 8 AM
Although we have not yet received a full schedule of the day's events, you can expect lunch to be taken between sessions 2 and 3, typically around noon. If the meet is running behind, they may opt to skip lunch and keep pushing events.
Suggested packing list:
- Swimsuit + extra swimsuit
- Googles + extra- Swim cap
- Towels (I suggest at least 2)
- Warm, comfortable clothes to wear between events (sweatshirts, pants/shorts, parkas, etc)
- Water and/or sports drink- Healthy snacks
- Blanket for the floor
- Games/books/electronics to pass the time (some swimmers might have back-to-back events, while others will have lots of time between events)
Concessions are typically available during the meet; cash is key.

I will be staying at the Navy Lodge and will most likely ride the free base shuttle to and from the pool.
